Their Sister's Rescue...What Really Matters : Part 2

Picture

Following from my previous post (please read it first :)) Most people expect heroes to wear a cape but many real life heroes are nameless. That's why I chose to honor David's role in Their Sister's Rescue, despite what many might think about his past.

About that post-cliff scene, (get Their Sister's Rescue here so you know what we are talking about) it's the things we do when no one is looking that matters most. And, it's the reason why we do the things we do that reveals our hearts. For example, if you see me Follow the author page of a non-Christian author, you don't follow suit. Find out why first because it might have nothing to do with their books which I will likely never read. If you go reading their books and go astray because you saw me follow their page, you misled yourself. Follow me as I follow Christ! That was beside the point.

Back to the point ;) , One of the unnamed heroes in my life I'm honoring with this scene in Their Sister's Rescue, is my cousin whom I mentioned in part 1.

I was about 8-10 yrs of age and our dad was building a house in his hometown, and he was out of town. We went to the building site to inspect what the workers were doing. As we were done and left the site, and that town, we walked across the highway and began returning to the place we stayed a long distance away (probably an hour/1.5 hours away on foot). We reached a point in the untarred road, a place known for having pagan shrines tucked in the thick groves of trees on the one side, and the road completely bare of any shade on the other side, and we were hit with a heat wave.

The sun grew so hot that I collapsed at the middle of the road, with a parched throat. I needed water badly, and shelter. I could no longer move. And the sun felt hotter by the minute.

We had two options : take shelter under the grove of satanic shrines, or die. I was not going under a shrine. There was no where to get water and I knew I could pass out. So, we stayed on the road, helpless. She should’ve been trying to save herself at least. Suddenly, she lifted me off the ground, and carried me and began walking. She was only five years older. At the time, we lived in the same house, and ate the same food so she wasn't that much bigger than I. And, she didn't get any taste of water to have drawn strength from.

But, the love GOD placed in her heart gave her a determination not to watch me pass out from thirst and the fierce heat, or die. And, GOD granted her, who had a willing heart, supernatural strength. She carried me and trekked, and trekked, and trekked.
Across hills and valleys, she did not put me down. She did not whisper a complaint. She didn't say one word. Mind you, I was not a friend to high heat and she knew it from our times living in the North close to the Sahara Desert, even with air conditioning I could barely stand the heat. They'd usually tease me in my family that I was too 'white' to be black. But, it was not a tease that day. I was close to crossing into eternity as my body got ready to succumb to the high sun, and I would've chosen to die rather than take shelter with the enemy under any shrine.

But, this girl carried me all the way. This was a distance people rarely walked even when empty-handed because it was long. They would take a bike or taxi from the taxi depot miles away. There was no taxi to call. No cell phones then. It was either she and I made it or we didn't. She took me all the way until we reached our destination and she set me down. None of us talked about it after that day. For starters, it had been an intense experience and there had been no guarantee that we would make it safely.

That is why, approximately thirty years after that day, when she came to our dad's funeral, and we set eyes on each other, tons of history passed between us, unspoken words that lived in our memories and we broke down in loud wails afresh.

But, Heaven was watching. Heaven kept record. And, when the fullness of time came, she called our mom and our mom gave me her number. I called her and she didn't need coercion or extensive preaching. She was an eye witness to the things I'd gone through in some of my early years. And, when I said I survived it all because of putting my faith in JESUS CHRIST, she knew it was 100% true, otherwise I wouldn’t even be alive. That same day, I led her in the prayer of salvation and she received JESUS as her personal LORD and Savior about two months ago! We might never speak again, nor interact again on this side of eternity but GOD had a reason for making her plant a seed in my life that would not be forgotten and that would birth a love in my heart that would want me to see her saved.

What does this have to do with you? You might ask.

I'm alive today, writing these books, blessing lives, because thirty years earlier, this girl you don't know stood between an eight-year old, beckoning shrines, and certain death, and she chose to be an anchor to life for me on that day. No one else was witness to that event except her, me and GOD. You would never know her. But, I might not be alive and writing without her sacrifice that day. You are benefitting from a seed she sowed twenty-plus years ago.

That is how GOD works. HE never forgets who did what for whom - and in the fullness of time, all heroes get their reward. And, there is no reward greater than JESUS Himself. (P.S. GOD owes no one. Whatever you did for someone in this life, appreciated or not, HE will reward you before you leave this world. Be sure of that.)

As you read and enjoy Their Sister's Rescue, remember, there are many Davids you may never know, rescuing others namelessly and without seeking a reward.

And one day, you might get to be a David De Angelo, or to honor one. That is what my heroes look like.

Make sacrifices for others when GOD leads you to do so. Even when GOD is your only witness. HE will remember you.

As Their Sister's Rescue releases tomorrow  (you don't have to wait, simply click on the book cover to preorder it now) get ready to settle into a truly inspirational read!

And, I think David should get his own story. I want to see him fall in love and raise a godly family. What about you? What do you think?

GOD bless you.💟

All of your books are so inspiring! Love each and every one of your books that I have read and reviewed. I would have never known the correlation between the two. That was a powerful scene!

Thanks for sharing your story. I love everyone of your books I have read. I'm reading Book 4 of the New Beginnings series. Even though the first three were wonderful and inspirational, this one has captured my heart and brought me to tears. I had to pause after David's rescue. During that pause I read your posts. Please continue to let God use you. You are doing a mighty work for the Kingdom of God.
